Library cards are free to residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Present your card each time you check out items or wish to use the library’s computers. You are responsible for the proper care and timely return of all items checked out on your card.

You may apply for a library card by completing an application at the circulation desk or print out an online Library Card Application and bring it in to the library. You must present both a photo identification and proof of address. A driver's license will fulfill both requirements as long as the address printed on it is current.

A parent or legal guardian must sign the application for all children under the age of 18.

We can issue library cards over the phone so that citizens can have access to online resources including ebooks and e-audio books without coming to the library in person. If you wish to then check out physical items on the card, you must present photo ID at that time. Please call 757-868-3060 for assistance.

The first card is issued free of charge. There is a $2.00 fee for replacement cards. New patrons may check out 2 books and 1 DVD (or 3 books) on the first visit. After returning these items, patrons may have up to 50 items on a card at any one time, 10 of which may be DVDs.
