Loan Periods by Material Type

Books, Books on CD, and Music CDs are checked out for 2 weeks and may be renewed up to 3 times, unless they are on hold for another patron.

DVDs are checked out initially for 1 week and may be renewed 2 times if they are not on hold for other patrons. The library assumes no responsibility for damage to your equipment. DVDs are copyrighted and are for private use only. They may not be duplicated or erased.

Read-to-me Kits are available for one week checkout with one renewal. Patrons are limited to 1 kit per library card. Included in each kit are 4 books and a puppet relating to a specific theme (Fall, dinosaurs, bugs, etc.).

Board games are available for one week checkout with one renewal. Patrons are limited to 1 game per library card.

Battle of the Books and Virginia Young Reader books may be checked out for 2 weeks and may be renewed once. Patrons are limited to a total of 3 items from these collections per card.

Back issues of magazines for children and teens may be checked out for a 2 week period and may be renewed up to 3 times.

Adult magazines and journals are available for in-house use. In addition, back issues of many magazines may be checked out for a 2 week period. Patrons searching for articles from previous years may find the material using the InfoTrac OneFile Database online or interlibrary loan.

eReaders and children's tablets may be checked out for a 2 week period and may be renewed one time. An eReader borrowing agreement must be signed before check out. The Library currently loans Nook and Kindle eReaders preloaded with bestsellers, and tablets designed for children loaded with educational apps and games.
