Souper Bowl Soup Drive

January 11 - February 8

Food insecurity is no game and is especially hard this year for many local families. Please help the Library’s Teen Advisory Board tackle hunger by donating boxed crackers and hearty canned soup, stew, or chili to the Souper Bowl Soup Drive. Donations can be placed in the marked bin at the library. With your help, we can score a touchdown for our local food bank.

Library of Things

Our newly established Library of Things allows people to check out items that certainly aren't books (or videos)! The Library has a variety of objects to borrow, from board games and jigsaw puzzles to cake pans and an astronomy kit.

We also have STEM kits for kids (or kids at heart!), and memory kits to help caregivers and family connect with older adults. Check out the Library of Things area behind the adult nonfiction section, or in the center of the kids area for STEM and literacy kits.

Genealogy & Local Interest

Our genealogy collection, referred to as the 'Root Cellar', is a collection of historical and genealogical materials specific to Poquoson and Hampton Roads. The materials are all reference, and are available any time the library is open. In addition to the reference material in the Root Cellar, we also have materials about local history in the regular reference and circulating collections.

We also try to collect materials by local authors, if you want to support your neighbors. Items in our collection include fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and local topics.

The Genealogy & Local Interest page linked above also has access to our multiple genealogy databases.
